Good pulse monitor except when wet - S. Quinto Pineda - Mexico
This is a good one piece pulse monitor, and accurate (tested it against a Blood Pressure Monitor and gave the same reading). While running, just put your index and thumb on the pads and in a couple of seconds you'll get your pulse rate. The problem is that when it gets wet (or even humid), the pulse monitor starts by itself which overrides the button functions or any other thing. Anyways I still use it to monitor my pulse, but I use another stopwatch for laps counting and timing.

Pulse Watch - John W. Fent -
Watch is a little squirrely. Kicks into the pulse mode if you get any where close to one of the buttons. Is a major problem if you are recording multiple laps and trying to use the fittness mode. Other than that it does some really neat things.

Watch function quickly loses time - DallasWriter - Dallas TX
I've owned a couple of these things. The last one I owned, which was the same identical watch/heart monitor but manufactured for Reebok, was priced under (also through Amazon), but I couldn't find that one this time.br /br /I've owned this one for a couple of months now and it almost immediately began to lose time. At first I thought that I had re-set the time incorrectly when I was performing a function, so I didn't send it back. Now I realize it's actually the timekeeping mechanism not functioning properly. It probably loses a minute a week, which adds up pretty quickly. br /br /The heart rate monitor, however, is very accurate. I purchased it to motivate myself when I'm on walks, to keep my heart rate up. When I'm at the gym on the machines, I measure my heart rate on the machine and on this device, and it's always on target. However, for the price, I think having a watch that doesn't lose time is a reasonable expectation.br /br /For this reason, I don't recommend the product.

Difficult to program - J. Hedgepeth -
I bought this one after looking at several. I thought it would be pretty easy to use. It's difficult to program the watch in order to calculate your target heart rate, the calorie counter only works if you frequently check your heart through out the workout. Also the capital "S" stands for small, so it barely fits around my wrist. If the wrist were written out in inches or cm it would have been easier to know what size I needed. Also sometimes the monitor will not take my heart rate until I slow down or stop my workout. Lastly it doesn't automatically take you heart rate. You have to apply sweat, spit or water to your thumb and index or middle finger, then hold your fingers on the electrodes on the top of the watch for about 5 secs. Too much hassle.

Polar FS2 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Black)

Polar FS2 Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Black) Reviews

This watch does exactly what most people need, and is incredibly easy to use.br /br /There are only a couple of things that keep me from giving it 5 stars, and that has more to do with me not thinking through everything I want:br /br /1. A backlight would have been handy.br /br /2. Minimum heart rate (in addition to max and average) is nice for resting heart rate measurements. (However, if you wait long enough, the average will approach the min.)br /br /3. Ability to store more than one session. I frequently do multiple cardio sessions while at the gym. It would be have a log of all of the cardio sessions I did that day.br /br /Overall, though, I'm very happy with it. It gets the job done.

I compared readings with hospital equipment and found this PulseOx to be quite accurate. It comes with a carry case that has a lanyard and belt loop. It has a second lanyard to attach to the PulseOx. It comes with a silicone cover that helps protect if it is dropped. I recommend this PulseOx to caregivers or anyone who needs to monitor oxygen saturation. Timex T5J031 Unisex Digital Fitness Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Timex T5J031 Unisex Digital Fitness Heart Rate Monitor Watch Reviews

I've had the watch for about a couple of months and I haven't had any functional problems with the device. It appears to be consistent and accurate. It doesn't always get the HRM data when I initially put it on, but if I lick it or allow just a little bit of sweat to build up, it starts functioning properly. When I'm done with a run I wash and dry it off and the heart rate data stops being sent. I assume the monitor has shut off and is conserving battery. I haven't had to replace the battery yet. br /br /A few minor annoyances:br /- Aesthetics: I didn't expect the watch to be so light gray. It's fine for me, but I'm not too picky. I would have preferred an all-black watch, but I wear it everywhere and it sort of grows on you.br /- The fact that you have to be in Chrono mode to record HRM data is rather annoying and I don't see any reason why it would have to be this way. br /- The HRM strap was tight initially. I'm a 40" chest and I had to have it all the way on the max setting. As I've worn it, though, the strap has stretched and I now have to tighten it somewhat to keep it in place. br /br /Besides a few annoyances, it's very functional (so far) and I'm very satisfied. It was well worth it for the price and if I lost it, I would definitely buy another one.

Liked it with a couple caveats - E. Skell - Hartford, WI United States
I like the aesthetics of the watch and it does its thing pretty accurately. I used this watch in conjunction with the heart rate monitor on the elliptical and treadmill at my gym and the readings were always in synch. I am not crazy about the chest strap as it is pretty small, better suited to a woman than a man. I am a typical size guy and the band is pretty tight. Also the band is held to the sensor with a cheesy fastening method that is kind of a pain (a little duct tape cured the issue). Also getting the modes setup and retrieving workout data is a bit awkward.br /br /In the end it does what it is supposed to do and its cheap.

Great Watch - Brenda H - Chicago, IL United States
This HRM works great. I work out at the gym for about fifteen hours per week, doing everything from weight lifting to kettle bells to aerobics to circuit training. I managed to plateau a couple of times and needed a better handle on how many calories I burned as an aid in setting a better workout schedule. Of course their our limits in terms of what wrist and chest sizes the monitor and receiver will fit. Too bad that information is not made clearer. Out of the box, the monitor is about 36". It probably expands another 10-12". My wrist is small. (I'm only 5'1.) It fits a little loosely, but that seems to not affect its accuracy.

Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports Personal Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Timex T5G971 Unisex Sports Personal Heart Rate Monitor Watch Reviews

This model (Timex 5G971) is the No. 1 top-rated HRM in Consumer Reports, rated "excellent" for accuracy and for ease of use, and I find that to be completely true. It also has user-replaceable batteries, which is a real "plus". I would rate it 5-stars except for the chest strap, which is a bit difficult to unhook for putting on or taking off, and I can see where it could eventually break from what one has to do to unhook it. But, until something breaks, it's all good.br /br /I did not want one of the dumb, more expensive HRM's with all kinds of bells and whistles that almost no one uses, just give me my pulse rate accurately, thanks. This one does that, and does display time and date, which I don't care about but nice enough.br /br /I've had Polar HRM's, which are accurate, but their wrist bands have always been inexplicably stiff and tough to use, no clue why they do that. Also, Polars need to be sent back to Polar when the batteries eventually die (wrist unit and chest strap unit), and die they will, and this is a real pain. Since most other manufacturers seem to manage just fine with user-relaceable batteries while still being accurate, reliable, and water-resistant, I see no credible reason for Polar to continue the madness and I for one will not buy any more of theirs. I vote with my wallet.br /br /I've also had one Cardiosport HRM, which was excellent, but they are tough to find and I can't devote my life to searching. No Cardiosport models appeared on the Consumer Reports list, probably because they can't find them either.br /br /So, I was shopping for any of the top three units listed in Consumer Reports, and happily found this Timex unit, the Consumer Reports top-rated unit, for a good price and free shipping, a real "no brainer".br /br /I've checked it against the last gasps of my last Polar (battery almost dead) and the hands-on unit built into my exercise bike, and "manually" timed my pulse, and the Timex is accurate. The instructions are easy and logical, the unit is easy to use. The wrist band is comfy and easy to take on and off. The chest strap is fine but as noted above, it either takes a magic trick that I haven't found yet or pushing on the "buckle" connection a bit harder than I'd like to unhook to put on and take off.br /br /Recommended.
